Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, better known as Devineni Uma born on 29 March 1962 (age 55), He is an Indian politician and farmers’ leader in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. His father’s name is D.Srimannarayana. Completed his schooling at Kanchikacharla in the year 1977-79 he completed his Intermediate from Siddartha College, Vijayawada. Later he completed his B.Sc (Bachelor of Science) from Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada, And attained B.Tech (Bachelor Of Technology) from Nagarjuna University, Guntur District in the year 1986.Since from his college days he actively participates in college elections,
He has 2 children – Son Nihar Devineni & and daughter Gnathavya Devineni He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly for four terms (20 years), in 1999, 2004 , 2009 and 2014. Elected first in 1999 from the Nandigama Constituency, and then in 2009 and 2014 he was elected from the Mylavaram Constituency. Formerly he is the president of the Krishna District TDP (Telugu Desam Party). Devineni Uma is known for his articulate speeches in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and for leading several agitations in support of farmers.
Currently he is serving as Minister for Irrigation, Command Area Development & Water Resources Management in Nara Chandrababu Naidu Government for Government of Andhra Pradesh.
His elder brother Devineni Venkata Ramana ,met with Train accident and died in the spot,very next day Venkata Ramana’s Wife also died. DVR’S twin daughters Snigdha and Prajna stay with Uma.
